Mr. José M. Villafañe is a highly accomplished leader in the radio and digital media industry, boasting over 20 years of experience. As the CEO/CRO of Nueva Network (NN), a 100% Minority-Owned Audio Media Company, he has demonstrated remarkable expertise and success. NN represents a network of 350 radio stations in the top 150 DMA, covering 85% of the US Hispanic Market.

Villafañe’s outstanding contributions have garnered recognition, as Radio Ink Magazine recently honored him as one of the Top Leaders in Radio for 2023. Under his guidance, Nueva Network formed a strategic partnership with Uforia to establish a scalable Spanish-language Audio Network, distributing Latino Audio-created content. The combined network now features 650 unique radio stations, providing 98% coverage of the U.S. Hispanic Market. Furthermore, Villafañe secured an advertising representation service agreement with Univision Radio, which includes coveted Univision Radio-designated properties within NN.

In addition to his role at Nueva Network, Villafañe founded Costa Media LLC, a multimedia Hispanic-owned broadcasting company that focuses on terrestrial radio, streaming, podcasting, and live events. Within just 18 months, Costa Media Boston successfully launched WCCM LatinX 103 FM in August 2021. Expanding its presence, Costa Media entered the DC market in 2022 through the acquisition of LA PANTERA WFAX 107 FM. Within six months, they added another station, taking charge of the day-to-day operations for LA NUEVA WDCN. Villafañe is already actively pursuing future station acquisitions, solidifying Costa Media’s growth trajectory.

Villafañe has held leadership and management roles in private and publicly owned companies. Throughout his career, he has developed and executed company strategies that have consistently delivered short- and long-term growth. His visionary leadership has significantly contributed to the incremental market cap value of assets under his stewardship.

His journey began as an assistant at Katz Media Group in 1997, where he emphasized the importance of gaining experience in different departments to discover one’s true passion in the radio industry.

As a testament to his expertise and entrepreneurial spirit, Villafañe founded the Entravision Audio Network, establishing a new revenue stream that grew into a $28M business unit within three years. Under his guidance, the National Spot Radio segment experienced remarkable growth, and by June 2015, he oversaw a $100M+ business unit, managing a sales staff of 50 people across five national offices and 14 markets.

Lastly, Villafañe serves as the CEO of MNA Sales, a national sales rep firm that provides fast, professional, and aggressive sales and marketing services to station partners, serving as a virtual extension of their company.
