Erik Oviedo

Erik B. Oviedo C. is originally from Brownwood, Texas, a small town where his parents (Camilo and Maria Oviedo) had settled down having migrated from Mexico. After high school graduation, Mr. Oviedo moved to San Antonio, Texas to pursue his academic interests.  Mr. Oviedo received his B.A. from St. Mary’s University & M.P.A. from The University of Texas at San Antonio.

 

Currently Mr. Oviedo is a Dean of Scholar Support at the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, providing academic advising and support to the Cooke College Scholars. Before joining the Cooke Foundation, Mr. Oviedo worked at The University of Texas at San Antonio as the Director of the Terry Scholarship Program out of the Honors College; developing the infrastructure of the scholarship program as well as recruiting, mentoring, and aiding terry scholars in their transition into college all through their four years of their undergraduate careers. Mr. Oviedo also had the pleasure of teaching The Civic Ethos college course for the Honors College at The University of Texas at San Antonio.

As he further engages within the scholarship and education sector, Mr. Oviedo has had the opportunity to participate in various scholarship/admission selection committee such as The University of Texas at San Antonio college admissions team, The Terry Scholarship, Jack Kent Cooke College Scholarship, Quinn Prize (JKCF), Dell Scholars Foundation, & UC Berkley Undergraduate Haas Business School.

He holds a belief that a community must continue to build-up one another, this being a prime motivator for the work he does!
